Quality vs. Quanitity
One of the principles that's given me a lot of useful guidance in my life is that quality is more important than quantity. For example, if you practice the exercises of IIH for many hours each day but the quality of your practice is bad because you are unserious and absent-minded during those hours, then you won't make much progress. But if you practice the exercises of IIH for just one hour each day but the quality of your practice is good because you are focused during that hour, then you will advance rapidly.
I've been learning a lot about writing lately. I've read a few books about prose style and have taken an online course on professional writing. Since I plan to continue writing books, I want to become as proficient in the craft of writing as possible. Over the past few months, I've definitely gotten better. The quality of my writing has improved.
There are a few more books I want to write, after all, writing is a hobby I enjoy greatly. I have interests in Tarot, Druidry, the air element, and personal magnetism, and will probably write a book about these subjects at some point in the future, sharing my own unique personal approach to reading Tarot cards, sharing the ways that Druidry has supplemented my training in IIH, sharing some of my experiences working with sylphs, and sharing various techniques for using magic to develop personal magnetism.
However, because I've always believed that quality is more important that quantity, for now, my focus will not be on writing more books, but on improving the quality of the books I have already written. Right now, I'm working on the second edition of The Spirit of Magic. When I'm finished with that, I'm going to work on the second editions of The Elemental Equilibrium and The Covert Side of Initiation. Since I'm just revising existing books instead of writing whole books from scratch, this shouldn't take too long, but it does mean I will have to temporarily suspend work on my fourth book and that as a result, the publication of my fourth book will be delayed. It's a collection of poems, stories, and other artwork I've created that's inspired by the subject of magic. I apologize for the delay to anyone who was waiting for its release.
In any case, that's the gist of what my writing-related plans are for the near future. Feel free to comment on this blog or message me on Facebook if you have any questions.
